016: 5 Lists You Need To Make Right Now
SHOW DESCRIPTION
If you were given five little changes to make your life easier and more productive would you do them? Rohit and I are giving you five simple lists that you need to create and keep, these lists will not only help keep you organized but also help with freeing up more of your time and making it easier for you to decide things. These five lists were created with intention and action in mind so when you create these lists remember that they only work if you put intention and action in them.
In short, the five lists are
- Travel
- Reading
- Grocery
- Bucket
- Goals
Keeping an ongoing list of these topics will provide guidelines for you on what you should do next as well as show your progress. You will be able to cross off things you have done and feel that satisfaction of accomplishing something. With that in mind, you will also have the opportunity to reflect on what you have done, how long it took to get done, as well as what is to come or what you want to do next.
Traveling list:
The travel list is a list where you keep track of all the places you want to go. On my travel list I have Italy, Greece, and Norway … also Eugene, Oregon. There are more but in a concept on my list are the places that I not only want to go but also places I will go. The importance of this list is that I fully intend to cross them off my list. One way to ensure that you accomplish your travel list is to set a travel date. I will be going to Italy in 2020 which is the year I finish my AA.
Reading List:
The reading list will be a list of all the books you want to read, books that are recommended for you, and books you have read already. Cross them off as you go along and keep adding to this list. There are so many impactful books that I read as a younger adult and child that I wish I knew the title of; With this kind of list, I wouldn’t have this problem. When you pick out a book to read you will already have a list of books to choose from so you won’t have to struggle with picking one out.
Grocery List:
The grocery list, as common and mundane as it is, is so important for keeping you on track. Keeping a list of things that you want regularly stocked in your home like fruit and milk in combination with a list of specific things you want for the week will help keep you on track to not buying extra food that you don’t need. This will also free up a lot of time so you don’t have to stand in front of the dairy section wondering if you needed cheese or not or if you still have plenty of milk in the fridge.
Bucket List:
The bucket list, one of my favorites, is the list where you keep all the things you want to do before you die. This is a list of all the extraordinary things you want to do, things you wouldn’t normally do. A great example of a bucket list item would be skydiving. The typical person wouldn’t normally go skydiving, so they would put it on their list with the intention of doing it before they die. When you commit to these experiences on paper you give yourself more accountability that if you were to just say it or put it on your phone. One of the biggest issues people find with this list that they never accomplish their list or even start checking things off. When you write your list have the intention to start checking things off, this is about the experiences you want to have. This is not something you’re supposed to start working on when you find out your dying.
Goals List:
The goals list is a list of things you want to work on and accomplish. This is about the life your living and the life you want to be living. Different from the bucket list which is about experiences in the way that this is about the goals you want to achieve. Some examples of goals would be buying a house, owning your own business, getting a bachelors degree. This will help keep you focused on what you want to accomplish.
All of these lists have many things in common, the most important being that you have to put action behind them. Be intentional about your lists and about accomplishing them and your life will thrive. You will save a lot of time, accomplish more, have more focus, grow, and experience a lot more from life by working on these lists.
