012: Simple Relaxation Techniques
SHOW DESCRIPTION
Relaxation is important for anybody no matter how stressful your life is. Most people spend their time unwinding or de-stressing, and not really relaxing. Going home and watching TV or playing video games is not relaxing. Relaxation is a planned intentional activity where you decided mentally this is your time to do this thing specifically to unwind. Relaxation requires no distractions so you can fully allow yourself the opportunity to be at peace.
You know you need to relax when you feel overwhelmed or under the weather. When you start to feel disassociated with yourself or when you find yourself repeating the same actions like an autopilot. I personally realize that when I am not on top of maintaining my relaxation I start to feel gross, clogged, and dirty. I like to relax by making a mini spa session at home filled with bubble baths, aromatherapy, and facials. There are many ways to relax and no one way is the right way you just need to find out what really works at giving you that mental time out.
Some ways of relaxing are:
- Taking a bath
- Resting in a sauna
- Going to the spa
- Going on a nature walk or hike
- Reading personal development books like Rohit
- Reading other books
- Go to a plant nursery
- Listen to personal development
The key to doing these things is to make it intentional when you decide you want or need to relax there are some general guidelines to follow when getting ready to really get the full benefits.
Steps to remember:
- NO technology, No TV or cell phones
- Create an atmosphere or ambiance
- Be mind-full, meditate/ focus on breathing
We take our time for granted, stop spending it on supposedly relaxing things like television and focus that time on things that will truly help you relax. Your mind, body, and soul need this mental timeout to refresh.
