Denise Centeno grew up in Humboldt Park, Chicago, was sexually abused by her grandfather, joined a gang, started doing crack cocaine, was beaten by her children’s father, and had brain cancer in the first 30 years of her life.

She shares her story how she came “Straight out of Darkness”, which is the title of her book that she created to bring hope to others who are in the dark.
