This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info… Just the facts… for Sunday April 5th, 2020. Saturday saw more than 33,000 cases in the U.S. and more than 1300 deaths reported. Mortuaries in New Orleans are full. The White House is concerned about new “hot spots” in Pennsylvania, Colorado and Washington DC.   Dr. Brix, White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator, relayed “The next two weeks are extraordinarily important” and cautioned against going out, even to the store. The U.S. is sending evacuation flights for American citizens in India, reports CNN.    

The U.S. embassy in Japan has told Americans to leave the country, due to a possible significant increase of cases there. The Japanese Prime Minister is under pressure to declare a state of emergency, according to The Washington Post. A second refugee camp in Greece has been quarantined, after a resident tested positive. Dubai has enacted a 24 hour lockdown for two weeks. In Ecuador, bodies are being left in the streets.  In Spain, growth of the virus seems to be slowing, as the Prime Minister seeks to extend the nationwide lockdown through the end of April.  A leading epidemiologist in the UK, expects COVID-19 cases to peak there in the next 7 to 10 days.  Australia’s Chief Medical Officer is hopeful, after seeing fewer cases over the last few days, that they may be flattening the curve.
