Knut Wittkowski, PhD, has (throughout) been critical of lockdowns and other COVID-19 mitigation measures implemented by governments worldwide. He argued that these measures were unnecessary and ultimately would do more harm than good. Respiratory viruses follow a predictable trajectory, and lockdowns and other measures only delay the spread of the virus, rather than preventing it altogether; moreover these delays promote additional mutated strains.

Focusing on protecting vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions, is a more effective strategy than imposing blanket lockdowns on the entire population (based on sound scientific principles and the standard presumptions of pandemic research. He is quite proud of not having had to retract or rescind any of his earlier pronouncements on Covid, beginning March 2020 unlike those throughout the public health establishment.

Knut Wittkowski, PhD, is a biostatistician and epidemiologist who has worked in academia and private industry. He was formerly the head of the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design at Rockefeller University. He is currently the CEO of ASDERA, a consulting firm that provides data analysis and modelling services in various industries, including pharmaceuticals and finance.
