This week on Conversations with Toi, we’re getting real about what it means to be the face of mental health. Perez Hilton’s recent public breakdown has the internet buzzing, but it also reminds us of a deeper truth: mental health doesn’t have a “look.” There’s no single face, no single narrative. We are the face of mental health — every one of us navigating our own battles, breakthroughs, and healing journeys.
I’m also sharing why doing things alone has become one of my greatest blessings. From attending the Jill Scott concert solo to taking a spontaneous trip to New York by myself, I found joy, clarity, and divine timing in the spaces where I stood alone. Sometimes being by yourself puts you exactly where you’re meant to be. Lastly we talk about the case of Lindsay Clancy and how this case could have shaped what people see when they talk about postpartum depression.
And of course, I have to give flowers to my favorite rapper, David Banner, for delivering the joy, energy, and perspective we didn’t even know we needed. When the right message hits at the right moment, it shifts everything.
This episode is about owning your journey, honoring your mental health, and embracing the beauty of doing life your way — whether surrounded by people or standing confidently on your own.
