Conversation with Tope Akindele and Curator Alexis Marie Chute
Nigerian-born Canadian Tope Akindele is Edmonton’s number one photographer.   He showcases his photography at the Multicultural Heritage Centre on the 9th June from 6 pm – 9 pm.     The exhibition is themed Light in Darkness and it is a collection of some his most powerful shots as a photographer during the pandemic.    “The exhibits will showcase some of the fine art photography created during the pandemic. Light In Darkness is a collection of work that invites us to examine life’s journey as extremes on a continuum of sameness”.  “It examines the contradictions and often tensions that arise from our experiences of love, laughter, trauma, inequity and the pandemic”.   “The artist encourages hopeful curiosity as we engage with the exhibition in finding our joy in sadness, pain in happiness while awakening our learners' mind to evoke light in darkness”.  The location is Multicultural Heritage Centre, 5411 51 Street, Stony Plain, AB T7Z 1X7   Register here https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/light-in-darkness-photography-exhibition-by-tope-akindele-tickets-340900270887 Support our journalism here    |   Find out more: www.ladiescorner.ca

We hope you enjoy listening to it.Minister Ien was very empowering and inspiring. She infused everyone in our office with renewed vigour and determination. There are portions of this conversation that we have listened to over and over again. The Honourable Marci Ien has served as Member of Parliament for Toronto Centre since October 2020.
