As you know, your relationship with your manager can greatly impact your experience at work and is a key driver of your job satisfaction (or dissatisfaction). Just like a teacher in college greatly impacts your experience in a class—and whether you like it or dislike it—a relationship with your manager can do the same.
Because I know I’m not easy to manage, I do a number of things to help my managers manage me. I’ve had 24 managers in my career, so I have a lot of experience. I also have a lot of compassion for managers. It’s not an easy job and they’re not necessarily well equipped for it.
