Dr. Hamza Alshargabi is a surgeon who's treated casualties in Syria and Yemen. Despite sometimes being in the middle of serious conflict, he enjoys what he calls the "clinical" work of helping a person in crisis. He's also driven to help people and communities in crisis, so he devotes much of his time to the emergency management profession. During our interview, Hamza describes emergency management in the Middle East, the underlying and sometimes conflicting social setting there, and the opportunities he sees to improve the profession.
