This PREMIERE ISSUE by Valiant packs in ALOT!!
Our hero - or is he the villain? - awakes with his MEMORY WIPED CLEAN, except for one fact - he is almost INFINITELY POWERFUL!
But why is everyone in the crowd watching him with FEAR IN THEIR EYES? Why have the POLICE and a MYSTERIOUS GROUP of Psionic Beings surrounded him and tried to wipe his presence from the face of the earth AGAIN?
And who is this mystery narrator who is seething with both ENVY and DISDAIN for our unknown dark hero?
I think the creators of this comic wanted to ensure that we the readers show up for Issue 2! They build an entire world, as well as an expansive mythos, in a matter of pages.
Several factions of warring and rival psionic groups and characters, and their bloody history with each other, are quickly introduced and detailed. Then the action explodes - literally - from the first page, and the story rarely pauses to make sure that the reader is caught up with everything happening.
It's a very dizzying experience! But if you love non-stop panels filled with plot that keeps pushing all the way through the last frame, then THE HARBINGER is for you!
Bright, vibrant coloring adds to the speed of the mile-a-minute thrills that we run through with the characters and the last page definitely leaves us wondering, What TF just happened - but in a good way! - LOL
I'm fairly sure Issue 2 will slow the pace down a bit, so we can sort out who everyone is and what their place in the story will be but, until then, you will probably have to read this issue at least TWICE to begin trying to piece that puzzle together yourself
Overall, I think this series is going to be a long-lasting winner, it just needs to gather a loyal audience to help keep this series going to press every month
