Ruben Martinez Lopez is the founder of ‘Tế Tê Beers’, part of the craft beer scene in Vietnam, heavily involved in advertising, and also a graphic designer, having previously worked in San Francisco, having moved from his native Spain for university. We discuss his background, from an aspiring video game creator, to working on numerous advertising campaigns and 3D design, to ultimately traveling abroad on a one way ticket to Thailand, and settling in Saigon for almost a decade, including setting up business here. In a fun and wide ranging discussion, we discuss the importance of spontaneity compared to planning/organization, setting up business abroad, having to manage the marketing/sales/HR team, the importance of truly enjoying the work you do, navigating the challenges of a pandemic, and watching the company develop and grow without losing a core identity.
