For followers of Jesus, is there ever a time when we need to break the law in obedience to Christ's teachings? If so, how can we determine when and how?

Interestingly, there are quite a few times in the Bible when God's people, and even Jesus Himself, broke the law -- sometimes the government's laws, and sometimes seemingly God's laws.
