DnD Beyond has announced "drops," which incentivizes players to sign up and pay monthly for access to a bunch of perks... that disappear if you cancel your subscription. Yes, we're moving closer and closer to Dungeons & Dragons being a digital live service product that requires every player to pay to play. Or you could just play your old sourcebooks from 30 years ago. One and done.
