Show notes

For this season of Cirque du Peuple, we are tackling mental health. Unlike most other illnesses, mental health is sometimes the last thing persons get treated for because, for whatever reason, it is still not seen as a major concern; especially if it is not a psychotic disorder. Persons with mental illness are often labeled negatively by their peers and are sometimes isolated, which may explain why certain people avoid diagnosis.

Don't Be Fooled By Me is a poem written by Charles C. Finn is 1966 and it is still has importance to this day. The overall message of the poem speaks to this very concern, as well as, wanting help regardless of the rejection and stigma. If you know someone who is suffering from any form of mental illness, do not call them names, because bullying someone with mental illness usually has negative consequences and can lead to suicide.
