This dude's rise on the rap scene has been impressive and I hope he continues to blow up. We've had Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller make it big out of Pittsburgh and all signs point to Jimmy Wopo being next.
I saw Wopo's material like way back in the summer and knew I wanted to get him on the podcast. He got the look, swag and talent. It's tough to describe. That "It" factor I guess you can say. He mentioned in our episode that "all (his) life (he) wanted to be somebody" and I think he's about to be.
We did this interview backstage at his concert at Mr. Smalls Theater on April 28th. It was real dope. I appreciate Wopo for giving me the time and Taylor for linking us for the podcast.
Wopo's a really interesting and thoughtful dude and I'm honored to share his insight/journey. In this conversation we talk about:
- His Creative Process
- Building Mental Toughness
- Rapping on The Radio at a Young Age
- Importance of Mentoring the Youth
- How Elm Street Blew Up/ Lessons Learned
- Success/ Finding Happiness
- How he got the name Jimmy Wopo
