Chazak Presents: How Shabbat Can Tip The Scales of Judgement

Question: Why don't we blow the shofar when Rosh Hashanna falls on Shabbat? Isn't blowing the shofar a command from the Torah?

Rabbi Moshe Levy brings an analogy of 2 different court experiences, one with a wife who loves her spouse, and the other where the wife is exhausted and downtrodden from the marriage. Some of us have a similar relationship with Shabbat...it gives us life and we will fight for it, and for some of us, it's a burden and a hardship. 

When Hashem makes the holiday of Rosh Hashanna fall on shabbat, He is telling us, "Let me see how your relationship is with Shabbat, before the day of judgment."
