It’s been a year since the summer of bushfires that devastated much of the east coast of Australia, and 10 years since the Queensland floods. But still we hear of homes being rebuilt, and even new homes going up in disaster-prone areas.

Is Australia doing enough to prevent the loss of lives, homes, and livelihoods caused by the rise in extreme weather events?

In today's episode, CEDA CEO Melinda Cilento is joined by President of the Australian and NSW local government associations and City of Sydney Councillor Linda Scott to discuss the role local councils play in responding to and planning for extreme weather and natural disasters. It’s the first episode in a series that looks at climate and disaster resilience.
