In this episode of the Catholic Link podcast, Fr. Rob is once again joined by Fr. George Elliot and they discuss why do Catholics pray for the dead and how the prayers help them in purgatory. They reference 2 Maccabees Listen to the previous episode where Fr. Rob is joined by Fr. George Elliot and they talk about the intercession of the Saints. Fr. Rob bases his discussion on St. Paul’s letter to Timothy in 1 Timothy chapter 2. He also references the book Mediation and the Immediate God: Scriptures, the Church, and Knowing God by Edith M. Humphrey. They point out how mediation between us and God is more prevalent than we realize. Without our parents mediation, or the mediation of the people who came before us, we would not know God or have any relationship with him.
