Our financial term of the day is prescribed assets. These are bonds or securities issued by the government, local authorities, quasi-government organizations, or any other bond that may be accorded the prescribed asset status.

In general, prescribed assets means that a certain percentage of the assets of retirement funds (and possibly other institutional holders of assets) must be allocated to certain government-approved instruments.
