Today we talk about a man who goes by many names, mostly Erik Lehnsherr and Magneto, who is a mutant with electromagnetic powers, a Holocaust survivor, and an antagonist to the X-Men. Is he a villain? Well, it's complicated.

Hey! You might have noticed that last week we didn't release an episode to support #TheShowMustPause, and you might have also noticed that our Twitter page has been retweeting Anti-Racism resources. If you haven't, and you don't agree with the Black Lives Matter movement, I want you to stop listening to this podcast right now and only come back once you've taken active steps to combat racism in your life and your community. This whole paragraph is a link to some things that can help with that.

Media specifically mentioned in today's episode:

-Quentin Quire's Magneto was right shirt
-X-Men (1963) #1
-Secret Wars (1984)
-House of M (2005)
-Secret Wars (2015) -there's plenty of lists of Black comics artists and writers and books, but here's one
-and here's another!
-Gail Simone even made a twitter thread!
