Premiere of “CancerTalks,” A New Cancer Story Project Podcast
How does a doctor with over 40 years of experience help cancer patients to change their stories about their disease in a way that opens them to more love, community, and courage? In the premiere of the Cancer Story Project's - https://www.cancerstoryproject.com - new online video series and podcast, “CancerTalks,” Dr. Ricki Pollycove shares her experience of more than 43 years in obstetrics and later turning her attention to women with cancer, revealing how it can open our hearts to more love, our lives to more joy, and our life-path to more courage. Those with a cancer diagnosis and their friends and families will both benefit from this new on-going series from the Cancer Story Project.  Insights in this episode include: The importance of recognizing cancer as a teacher with valuable lessons The benefits of building connection through communities of people who are transparent when it comes to their stories about cancer A perspective on how medical practitioners can provide a broader cancer support system that leads to a more integral approach to health care If the meta-disease is isolation, the antidote  is joyful, loving kindness, and a deep connection with a welcoming community. All of this can have a powerful positive impact on every level of our being including on the body Resources from this episode:  Who Dies? By Stephen Levine: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/100574/who-dies-by-stephen-and-ondrea-levine/ National Consortium of Breast Centers: http://ncobc.org/   Dr. Pollycove has said, “For decades I've observed how being in the ‘breast cancer club’ can open new doors that expand love and the precious gifts of being connected in community.” We look forward to continuing to change the world’s conversations about cancer by helping as many people as possible to tell new, more empowering stories about cancer. ABOUT CANCERTALKS  In future episodes, the conversation will expand to include other thought leaders and organizations who are changing the world’s story about cancer, and we will also include 3-minute videos from you, the members of our community, about how changing your own story about cancer has changed your life.
