<p>In this two part conversation we speak with Alyssa about her stage 4 stomach cancer diagnosis. We spoke with her first at the early stages of her treatment, then caught up with her post finishing a trial treatment. She tells us about the delays in her screenings, poor bedside manner, the necessity for self advocacy, and the psychological navigations of a long term illness. </p>

Being in your 20s or 30s and having cancer means sometimes you Google your symptoms and end up being right about the self diagnosis. It means your career might be going on pause, it means you may need to speak to your partner about kids a lot sooner than you thought. It means you will likely need to develop a great sense of humour. It means you may need to reevaluate your friendships. It means a lot of things, and not all of them are discussed, understood, nor treatable in a doctor's office.
