Proverbs in 365 DevotionsFor more go to braggingonjesus.comProverbs Today Solomon shares with us an iron clad truth about God and then gives us an example which we can receive application from for our every day life.First off in verse 30 tells us we cannot outwit or strategize or manipulate God. We cannot trick him or hide our motives from him. We cannot set a trap for him or find some work around in his word that would keep us from facing just judgment. Gods word is not like the hundreds of thousands of pages legal codes and regulations such as IRS tax laws where one might try to find a loophole so one might escape the intent of the law. There are no loopholes against the Lord. Psalm And the truth is… when we search for peace and strive for satisfaction from the things of the world… When our confidence comes from the sophisticated air power and high yield destruction capabilities of our armed forces… Or more to our daily life… when our confidence comes from our job, our money, looks, popularity etc… We are trusting in our own arsenal of weapons to survive in a broken world… But actually… all of our weapons for victory are broken weapons. The truth is that we are blessed not by fighting the system… not by overcoming the brokenness of a world cursed because of sin… We could never scratch the surface to do that ourselves. How can we fight a system that God created and put in place? We cant! And yes he was the one who broke the Universe but he did it because of mankind sin; and he did it for his own glory… and he did it to show us our brokenness and futility… And he did it so we might look to him in faith with repentance and joy. He is the one who gives us victory over the brokenness that God brought because of sin.Romans So we in ourselves cannot be triumphant in a broken world because we cannot avail against the Lord. Verse 31 gives us an example for application which we already touched on. It speaks of not trusting in worldly might in war… namely the horse. Solomon gives us the reason; he says: “the victory belongs to the Lord”.Solomon may have read his father King Davids writings. In Psalm chapter 20 verse 7 he wrote: Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.I want to read a few verses related to this which I love out of Isaiah.Isaiah Isaiah Pray
