On Episode 6 of Black in Science, I sat down with the amazing Dr. Mykel D Green, who’s currently a postdoctoral researcher at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. To open, Dr. Green shares how his initial interest in cardiothoracic surgery evolved into a love of research that surpassed his feelings towards medicine. Mykel then expands upon his time as an undergraduate student at Morehouse College before regaling us with his somewhat unconventional Ph.D. journey. After disclosing his future career plans, Dr. Green closes things out by sharing his advice on the importance of exposure, diversity and finding your passion.
