Around the Bases







First Base: Playing Spoiler is no fun.



We have discussed the merits of the 2011 Andino game at length, but Jake goes further to say that there is no redeeming quality to being part of a meaningful game unless it is also meaningful for you. Scott tried to inject some logic into the proceedings, but… when has that worked?







Second Base: Awards Season



Cedric Mullins is hands-down the only choice for Most Valuable Oriole (MVO). With that settled, we look ahead to other awards and which Orioles may factor in the discussion.



Third Base: Hyde and Keep



The Orioles are going to keep their manager, as it was announced that a “previously unreported” deal was inked last offseason that will keep Hyde in the organization at least through the end of 2022. We wonder aloud when it’s time to actually start evaluating him as a major league manager. The guy hasn’t had a major league club to manage, so it’s been hard thus far.



Home Plate: Fun Fact!



Did you know that Yankee Gleyber Torres does not have a HR against the Orioles since 2019? We did. We also know why that is the case. It’s really quite simple, once you consider the component that has been missing in that time.
