Fate smiled on us this week, as we moved our regular Monday night recording to Wednesday, and had the privilege of discussing the first Orioles’ no-hitter since 1969 (if you ignore the whole combined no-hitter from 1991).



John Means got it done. He meant business, and it meant the world to us.

No Hit, Sherlock







John Means threw the Orioles’ 6th no-hitter in franchise history. And it was a lot of fun to watch. That is… if you were lucky enough to watch it. A get-away game on the west coast made this game awkward to watch for some working individuals, and for many of us, this was a SECRET NO HITTER.



Means had everything working – the fastball command, the changeup, and the beyond-the-grave help from his dad. Yeah, this game was fun.



Is John Means an ace? Well… sure? Right now, he quacks like an ace, so we’ll take it.







Around the Bases







FIRST BASE: Everything is… kind of fine.



It’s May 5th, and the Orioles have played 31 games. Through 19% of their schedule, the Birds are 15-16 – one game under .500 and 3.5 games out of first. I know that none of that matters. I know that this team is not going to win. But after about a month of baseball, everything is… kind of fine.



SECOND BASE: Talent in the Outfield



Don’t look now, but the Orioles’ outfield is fun. Like, super fun. Is it too early to refer to Mullins and Hays as “2131 Eutaw Street?” Of course it is. Will that stop us? Unlikely.
