On this episode of Beyond The Limit, we sit down with NASCAR driver Ryan Reed. In February 2011, Ryan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Doctors stated he would be unable to race again. Ryan went to work, learning how to compete in high stakes environments despite this diagnosis. As a result, he became a diabetes advocate.
In order to race again, Ryan had a drink system installed in his car, along with a blood glucose monitor on the car's dashboard which displays data from a wireless device attached to his stomach.
On February 21, 2015, Ryan won his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway. After 5 full-time seasons in the Xfinity Series with Roush Fenway Racing, Ryan is currently looking for opportunities to continue his NASCAR career.
