‘A Woman Who Serves’
Join us for this week’s episode as we explore the work of a Birth Doula, Kaitlin Hussein. Kaitlin is a registered massage therapist, doula, and child birth educator. Fuelled by her passion, Kaitlin now owns and operates her business, Flourishing Families in Perth, Ontario.
In this conversation we explore what wellness in birth can look like. Kaitlin reminds us that throughout history, women commonly supported each other’s births, providing love, care and wisdom. She teaches us about the role of a Doula, meaning ‘a woman who serves’, and discusses the emotional, physical and informational support Doula’s can provide to people as they navigate the birthing process, both virtually and in-person. She describes her role as the “glue in the background”, “pouring love in the room" and dismantling fear; a inspiring, heartfelt and genuine chat.
