Changing place names seems all the rage right now, but, in fact, there's a long history associated with the practice. One could review the history of names like New York or Toronto, and find original names that were different. Look on a map today and try to locate a place called Swaziland. Editing cultural history, it seems, is an ongoing exercise by those who hold, or at least influence, the pen.
