The ancient story of the fig tree reminds us that apparent unfruitfulness isn't always a sign of failure, but sometimes a call for deeper care. The landowner saw only a lack of fruit; the gardener saw potential hidden in the soil. What 'soil' in your life might need tending today? Perhaps it's a neglected spiritual practice, an unexamined assumption, or a relationship that's grown weary. Like the gardener who proposes to 'dig around it and put manure on it,' we are invited to nourish the very foundations of our being. This isn't about harsh judgment, but about loving intervention. Consider what might enrich your inner landscape. Is it quiet contemplation, honest self-reflection, or a renewed commitment to prayer? Give yourself permission to lovingly prepare the ground for new growth, trusting that with patient care, God's Spirit can bring forth abundant fruit.
