In this episode we talk with Meredith Stone, Executive Director of Baptist Women in Ministry, and Brittany Stillwell, Arkansas Baptist Women in Ministry representative, about the opportunities and challenges of being a Baptist woman in ministry. We identify some of the struggles and joys of women in ministry at all levels of congregational leadership and challenge churches to join us in the work of cultivating a culture of affirmation.

“If we had a big rope and we decided once a month we were going to tie a knot in the rope and we did that for 1000 years...and then all of a sudden we decided the rope shouldn’t have knots anymore. The rope still has the knots whether or not we decided it shouldn’t have it. We’ve got to get in there and start untangling the knots. It’s not something we’ll be able to do quickly, but it’s going to take a lot of work. I think this is what has happened with women: we’ve moved into this place where many folks are becoming much more affirming of women in ministry, but we still have years and years of those effects to undo.”
