Dads - our children need us! If there was ever a more critical time in the last FIFTY-FIVE YEARS (as long as I have lived) that our children - FRANKLY - ESPECIALLY OUR SONS(!!) need us... I DON'T KNOW WHEN THAT TIME WAS! For goodness sake! We actually have organizations promoting a "new" family that does not "need" fathers. Can't fix stupid! Thanks to those organizations / people, look at the results of a fatherless or a weakened role of the father!! On 2 March 2021, I had the great honor to interview one of my heroes: our son - LtJG Paul J. Everts; United States Navy. PJ and his family have just moved to Japan. PJ will be an officer on a minesweeper. I admit... seeing how our nation is behaving (15 April 2021), it challenges me to see our son risk his life every day he is on that minesweeper. Seeing how close our son / our daughter-in-law / our grandson are to China?? Yes... that causes concern, as well. Our (PJ / Me) hope is when you listen to a father and son talk, it inspires you to be a better father / parent! I am NOT the "perfect" dad (that's why I look to Christ to teach me to be a better human being) and PJ is not the "perfect" son. However, I have seen the results of our growing relationship and DAMN IT - it's a great relationship, PJ & I would love you to have a great relationship with your children. Hope you will be inspired to make every day special. You have fewer days to be a "hands-on-father than you do in your career!! Remember - your children become adults!
