Vang Kou grew up with a family of famers in the Central Valley. It was through his physical labor in the tomato fields and seeing the hardships that his parents had to overcome as immigrants that motivated him to pursue higher education. During his time at Stanford, Vang Kou's knacks for the sciences and his passion to serve others led him to the field of medicine. Today he is a Hospitalist and frontline worker during this COVID Pandemic. Note from Dr. Khang: Hospitalists are the backbone of Hospital Medicine. Our line of work revolves around caring for patients while they are hospitalized; we treat infections, coordinate chemotherapy and work closely with surgeons and interventionists to insure patients get the procedures they need.
