83 years ago on Oct 30th, 23 year old Orson Welles along with his Mercury Theater company, broadcast his updated version of “The War of the Worlds” by H.G. Wells on live radio! That story threw the nation into chaos then and it continues to do that to this day as it practically paved the way for science fiction. In this episode of Read or Watch, Ken Fay and I discuss the original adaptation of the war of the worlds on radio, then to the silver screen in 1953 and it’s more recent adaptation by Steven Spielberg in 2005! Join us as we get a sneak peek into the making of the films as well as how the story has evolved over the years and the different impacts it’s had on the science fiction genre!
