On this episode of Ask The Experts, Alka talks to Kish Bali to talk about his inspirational story from teaching to entrepreneurship and investing.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- I’ve been an entrepreneur for the last four years and it’s been a rollercoaster ride. I’m a primary school teacher and have been since the age of 21. After a couple of years I noticed I was the youngest teacher in the school and that a lot of the other teachers were unhappy and tired, so I’d ask them about themselves and how their weekend was and the responses I generally got was “I wish it was Friday already”. They were wishing five days of the week away and not being present. It made me afraid to think I might be like that in future. I love teaching, but it’s not the only thing I want to have going for me. One day I met a well-dressed guy and I asked him what he did. He told me he was an investor and entrepreneur who used to be an assistant-headteacher. That blew my mind, so I asked him how he got from there to here. He then took me under his wing and mentored me.
- Most people fail in life because they have a broken focus because they lack clarity in what they want, they don’t know where they’re going or what their goals are. It’s important to write down what you want in life because if you write what you want, pen to paper, it sends so many signals to your brain that help to manifest and make these things happen. There are 12 laws in the universe, one is the law of attraction, but another is the law of action which coincide with each other for you to go out there and make it happen.
- The definition of future is: A period of time following the moment of speaking or writing time regarded as still to come. We need to speak our goals, “I am” are the two most powerful words in the dictionary. Look at the word ‘world’, take away the ‘l’ and it spells words, the words we speak shape the world we live in. Look at the word ‘clear’ it contains the word ‘ear’, the only way we can be clear on our goals is how often we’re speaking them because we hear them.
- If you work hard on your heart everything else will come through. Life will happen to us no matter what, but how we react will determine how successful we will be in the long run. We need to protect our energy. There’s a lot of noise in the world with the news and social media, we need to control what we listen to and what we see. As long as you do those things alongside the law of action, going out there and trying to make things happen it is inevitable that you will make those things happen.
BEST MOMENTS
‘If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail.’
‘Ask high quality questions. The questions you ask will determine the answers you receive, and those answers will help dictate which path you take to where you want to go.’
‘The shortcut to success is having a mentor, but you must prove your worth to them as a mentee.’
‘Write the vision, make it plain so those who see it will run.’
