This week, Tamara chats with an old friend from back in her Australia days, Sophie. This chat was the result of Sophie's article that she wrote for Mamamia AU, 'For 16 years, I thought I was straight. Then I came off contraception.'

• Sophie talks about the effects birth control had on her and her sexuality over 16 years
• Why she went on contraception in the first place and how she realized and embraced the fact that she was a lesbian after getting off the pill
• They talk about the effects of birth control on women as a whole and how there's not necessarily a male equivalent or it's not stressed as much
• Women have to carry the burden and the responsibility of contraception and the effects of what happens as a result, if they refuse to use it or aren't careful in sexual situations
• Sophie talks about having to go on the pill at the age of 13 to help with her mood and periods
• As a whole, most women are not educated about the side effects of being on birth control, especially as young girls
• Growing up in Belgium, Sophie did not know many people who were gay or lesbian
• At 28 and in a 5-year relationship, she made a conscious decision to get off of contraception 
• After getting her IUD removed, she instantly felt the change of feeling more awake, more herself, and having her sex drive back. She felt renewed and re-energized 
• She entered a period where she was losing the attraction from her boyfriend, which caused them to enter into an open relationship in order to spice things up, resulting in her falling in love with a woman in the process
