My favorite podcaster for the last 10 years!
It’s hard to describe this show because of how unique and personal it is. I mean the title says it all— Alison’s show really makes you feel like you’re a part of her life and gang, and is always open to bringing us along for the ride. To me, this show is the Seinfeld of podcasts, in that in a beautiful and hilarious way, is a show about nothing and everything all at once! I think some people might feel alienated if they start listening at a random episode because of the inside jokes and long histories between the guests, but to me, some of the best podcasts are like that— where us outsiders get to listen in on close friendships and their organic and candid conversations.. which I loooove. To me, if you’re just getting started, I highly recommend the episode where her husband Daniel Quantz makes his first appearance on the show back in 2014.. it’s a great place to get to know her inner circle and rhythm of the show. Not to discount previous episodes though, because those were equally hilarious and an enjoyable listen! Thank you Alison for being in our ears, for your candid thoughts, and for being so open and honest about this life. You are my favorite podcast 😊

Daniel has a tell
He says “honey” when he’s about to be deliberately obtuse or outright condescending. I never use the word condescending but it comes up over and over from him. He’s an absolute cunn

Not impressed
I searched a comedian I like and found they were on an episode of this podcast, so I tried to give it a listen. I don’t know Alison from anything, but I find her interview style to be very stilted and awkward. I don’t think it’s the dynamic, because I’ve listened to the comedian in other shows, and she jives well on all of them. I’ve not laughed even once at anything Alison has said. I gave an extra star because I was floored the podcast has existed for so long, so some people must like her.

Sad to lose this podcast
I’ve been faithful weekly listener since the beginning of the podcast version of the show. I’ve always known my politics were more progressive than Alison/Daniel’s but I thought of them as kind, well-intentioned people. However, the heartlessness and lack of nuance they are bringing to their discussion of the conflict between Israel and Palestine and their lack of empathy for the suffering of ordinary Palestinians has caused me to reconsider my image of them. Unfortunately, the appeal of the show for me is really built on my ability to relate to host(s) as fellow humans, fallible but also trying to be better. I imagine they are very scared. I can understand that. Sometimes, the measure of a person is how they react when they are afraid. I’m so sad to lose this show.

Please more Greg
That’s my original review & I loved the throwback New Year’s episode!! I love the Thursday show. I'm a listener from way back with the old Thursday gang. I have to say I like your new crew better. Greg, I like your quick whit and your rash judgement. Jenna and Al are adorable. Jeff is a great producer. Dustin is hysterical. Alison and Daniel are awesome - love the banter between you!

Why zero diversity??
I love Alison and have been listening since 2013. But, I have noticed that she seems to only allow white people to participate on her Thursday episodes (& most episodes overall if we’re being honest). This has bugged me for years and almost seems intentional at this point. As if there are no funny or witty industry people who are non white living in the LA area?? It’s insulting makes me question her true character.

Couldn’t make it through one episode
They give anybody a podcast these days. This chick will be gone soon. I’m so sick of basic people thinking they’re special.

Disappointing to see what Alison and Daniel have been posting regarding I/P. Finally unsubscribed. Also, I hope you are paying your guests especially with your new “product corner” segment since you are making money off the clicks. Honestly annoying

Loved interview with Justin Martindale
Alison let him speak instead of cutting him off like other podcasters. I enjoyed it very much.

Talentless Troll
“Are her followers anti-trans, anti-LGBTQ?” What an ignorant human Alison is. Yes, all listeners of a top 1% Podcast in the world are anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ. Every single one. What an uneducated, desperate manipulator. Not to mention terrible interviewing skills. She should be devoting a full time schedule to researching how to interview a guest.

Disappointing
I’ve been an avid listener for the last 8 years but am incredibly disheartened by the recent posts by both Alison and Daniel regarding Palestine. I would never have thought either would be pro-genocide. I’ve unsubscribed, though I will really miss this podcast.

Ran out of my bedroom laughing
I have been listening to podcasts for over a decade and this is the first time I’ve ever written a review. I have been listening to this podcast after listening to Alison on Josh Wolf’s podcast in 2016. I was charmed by her humor, vocabulary, and vulnerability. I then shortly started listening to this podcast and have been loyal since. What has caused me to write a review what the posting of an encore podcast from 2015 and the phrases uttered by everyone like “do you need someone to hold you while you poop” caused me to run out of my bedroom in the middle of changing because my fiancé was still sleeping and I was about to bust out laughing. Thank you for the years of entertainment and the more to come.

Oh Alison 🙄
Remember when star Jerry Seinfeld was the worst part of ‘Seinfeld?’ This Jew is totally the worst part of this show. Her long, pointless, nonsensical stories are insufferable. But guests, Robin, Jordan, Daniel, Dave and Wendy are the best!

My old reliable
I’ve been listening since Alison was on Natch Beaut and have listened ever since. I find the conversations pleasant and asking the same questions that I would ask. Also Alison is always out here with these $100 words, really helping me with my adult vocabulary. Thanks for all the many hours and here’s to many more 🥂

Listening since first mention on AC
If you like being in a room and listening to others conversations then this podcast is for you. Anything can be a topic, it might offend, it might ramble, but it will make you laugh. I love the Thursday shows and Tony’s chuckle makes me laugh even harder. I miss the old groups but enjoy the new ones.

Vander…not a fan
I’ve listen since Alison was let go from Adam Carolla show. I liked her on that and wanted to support her work. Over the last few years there has been no growth in this show except story or a mention about some non reality reality show and now there is 25 min of Vanderpump talk often. I’m out.

Interested AND available!
I love this show. Alison, your humor, kindness and people skills surround you with some of the best humans. Daniel’s eye injury is the episode in listening to now…hope it’s better Daniel! So; just me or everyone: when someone says “stay in touch” then does zero of the staying in touch, putting all of the stay in touch responsibility on my shoulders - arghhhhhh. It’s almost as angering as when the one ear bud I’m using falls out of my ear you know?

Idk what’s going on and I love it
I wish I could tell you what this podcast is about as part of my glowing review but honestly, I just can’t. I have no idea what is going on 95% of the time but that doesn’t matter. It is perfect casual listening. It’s happy, it’s funny, and you really do feel by the end of the first episode you listen to that Alison IS your new best friend.

Peter Madrigal on Scandoval Episode
I was laughing so hard the entire time. Only episode I’ve ever listened to but being live while Peter unfollowed those two losers was amazing. 🤣🤣🤣

Loved Alison when she was on Carolla's podcast. She’s way funnier than Gina Jewtits.

Alison is great and likable, but..
I wish she hadn’t adopted the “Adam Carolla ranting persona” some time ago. It doesn’t work on a woman. The “blow hard” schtick. It gets exhausting pretty quickly. Makes for quantity over quality content. Anyway. Enjoy

Bitter coffee (tastes good with lots of cream and Splenda)
I started listening to Alison on her other podcast with Greg Fitzsimmons and I found her voice grating and annoying at first. But after listening to Childish for a few months, I found that she’s like bitter coffee. Her creamy sweet guests (Wendy Molyneux, David Huntsberger, Betsy Sodaro, etc), are the perfect compliment and she becomes soooo addictive! Before I knew it I was downloading all 3 of her podcasts and listening almost daily! So give it a try, and listen to more than a few episodes. It takes a while for her to grow on you but it is worth the wait! Alison is extremely witty, humble, vulnerable and so honest and willing to share — qualities that I wish for in every best friend.

Alison is my all-time favorite podcaster!
After finding Alison on Carolla’s show, I followed her (ditching him) into her solo career and have loved every ARIYNBF episode along the way. I enjoy Childish and Upworthy Weekly too. My favorite episodes are with the Thursday gangs because I just “get” the humor, the sarcasm, and (I say with affection) the complaining. Honestly, I’ve never hated even a part of one episode. I guess I’m a real “Alison person.” So, thanks, Alison, for brightening my days and keep up the great work!

Not TOTALLY Unlistenble
Used to love this show but it’s gotten increasingly difficult to listen to Alison talk through unnecessary details before getting to the point of any story. Once she finally arrives at said point, it turns out no one can really relate to what she’s trying to say. She’s trying to be funny and relatable but it usually comes off awkward. She also veers off on tangents during the guest intros on the Thursday shows and it takes forever just to go around the Zoom screen to introduce people. Yes, she’s still making her guests zoom in. It used to be a fun show. In particular the Thursday shows where it was like a bunch of friends hanging out and being hilarious and witty. Now it’s just awkward. I’ll definitely listen when the tried and true guests like Jenna, Al, Greg, Renee, Wendy or David are on. That group has great chemistry.

Why you Should Listen
While Alison Rosen may be the name on the marquis, the appearance of the show's producer, Tony Thaxton, and the witty banter is a great reason to tune in. While his appearance is brief, its clearly the highlight of each episode. But seriously, Alison's ability to interview and ask insightful questions that you don't hear on other interviews is a special skill. Her ability to make Daniel's rants hysterical is also a nice touch.

Maybe has run its course
I have been subscribed forever. I always loved the original chemistry that occasionally returns with certain guest combinations on Thursdays. But now literally every show is a quiz about one of the guests- guests no one outside of Alison’s bug-riddled shed would know anything about. It comes off as insular and lazy. There are still bright spots, especially the partially staged (?) arguments with her special needs husband, Daniel. But at this point I’m not sure Alison isn’t more bored than I am. I will still listen but I am a flight risk.

Alison Reaches a New Pinochle! (sic)
Guests like Paul F. Tompkins, Wendy Molyneux and David Huntsburger make everyone else up their games on this podcast. Who knew producer Tony, Toni, ToneZone and hubby Daniel Quantz were so good at conversational improv riffing? The Wednesday edition sometimes touches on serious-ish topics, but usually veers off into the weeds of hilarity, all within the same hour. Alison’s one-on-one Sunday edition showcases her impressive interviewing chops, often coaxing deep revelations from her guest. Well worth sampling!
