Sayima .Stillness & PoetryI’m Sayima, a Tanzanian-born writer currently living in France. My work is rooted in emotional healing, identity and the quiet power of softness in a performance-driven world. My debut poetry collection, ‘heart based’, reflects my own experience, from navigating cultural and religious expectations of my country of origin to rebuilding a sense of inner belonging across cultures, languages and countries that I moved to.These poems began as journal entries written in moments that later became blessings in disguise, leading me to question who I truly was if I let go of everything that once defined me.I’ve shared ‘heart based’ through a tour across France, in English-language bookstores and at literary festivals like La Comédie du Livre in Montpellier (the biggest literary festival in the country), where I connected with readers from around the world.
