Ruby finds herself adrift in the aftermath of Frank’s funeral. Surrounded by gossiping mourners, theatrical strangers, and judgmental church ladies, she struggles to maintain composure while her grief and fear gnaw at her resolve. Madam Hoxha offers strength and perspective, but Vi’s interference only deepens Ruby’s sense of displacement. As Edie tries to return to normal and Janice gently keeps the household afloat, Ruby must confront the unsettling question of what comes next—especially when a letter from Frank’s solicitor arrives, addressed to Mrs. Douglas W. Woods.
