A Mischief of Magpies: Newcastle United from the USA

Bill Mann
Couple of American dudes talkin' about the finest soccer club in the world. No we won't apologize for calling it soccer. Recorded live weekly from the Hawk & Griffin, the home of the Toon Army of the Potomac.

Newcastle crush Aston Villa (and their nuts) as Eddie's S#!*thousing Mags return
Eddie's S#!*housing Mags are dead! Long live Eddie's S#!*housing Mags!  Bill and Kevin return to the Hawk and Griffin to revel in Newcastle's third straight away win, try to find anything negative to say about Fabian Schar, and contemplate how many balls actually went in the net on Jacob Murphy's "goal" early in the second half.

Manchester City Review, Newcastle vs. "The Fates"
Happy Birthday to the Mischief of Magpies! Bill and Kevin reflect on a year of doing a Newcastle United podcast from the USA. And what a year it's been!  In this episode we review the Manchester City loss, the positives to take from it and how unkind the fates have been to Newcastle United this season. Bill points out the utter stupidity of the schadenfreude supporters of other clubs are showing Newcastle for its inability to spend under the fantastically misnamed Financial Unfair Play rules.

Bill & Kevin Break Out the Abacus
Newcastle United files its financial report for the 2022-23 season, and its challenge to get to the top of the league in a world of Profit & Sustainability Rate requirements comes into sharp relief. Sunderland helps Right the Ship
Bill and Andrew discuss the delightful day out that was our first derby match in nearly a decade as Sunderland plays, bizarrely, right into Newcastle's hands. We ponder the questions of whether some beloved players may be on their way out, and whether we'd like the derby to be played more often.

A Christmas Hangover as Newcastle lose to Chelsea, Luton, Forest...but wait, there's more!
Kevin can't contain his pessimism as visions of pink slips begin to dance in his head. Simultaneously calling for calm and for peoples' heads, Kevin is a tangled ball of frustration. Andrew, our new Chief Ispiration Officer, provides just enough perspective to earn his new title, reminding the listener, numerous times, that the season, is actually, not over. (Clutches Pearls.)  It's a bumpy ride, so hold on tight to your black and white New Year hats...you know, the silly looking ones that are made out of cardboard, shaped like Abraham Lincoln's, and inexplicably have a pair of sunglasses stapled to them for some reason.  Happy Holidays from your friends in misery, the Mischief of Magpies!

Burn Grundles Toon to Win Over Fulham
Bill and Kevin giggle for sixty-five minutes straight after 10-man Fulham roll out the red carpet for a rampant and entertaining Newcastle United.  17-year old Lewis Miley, who has more European minutes under his belt than Sunderland Association Football Club, scored his maiden Premier League goal for Newcastle, Callum Wilson was made angry by Miguel Almiron scoring a goal, and Dan Burn molested the ball into the net for a third, as Newcastle cruised in what ended up as a very fun and uplifting match.  We discuss important topics like Emil Krafth's attractiveness, the plight of Tino Livramento not getting all the attention, and ponder how Fotmob could mistake Dan Burn's foot for whichever of his appendages actually scored that goal.

The Group of Death Lives Up to its Name
Newcastle United disappoints poetically. If you wanted a team that tries, well you have it. So much great to take out of Newcastle's experience in this year's Champions League. Of course, we were 30 minutes away from way more than that.
