Show’s kinda fallen off for me. Tyler and Hunter are really the only ones who are interesting to listen to (JD would be too if he talked more), Harper is inconsistent. One second he's a shill for something the next he hates it and vice versa. I get opinions change, but bro changes almost every week. Egg.

This podcast is full of good moments, amazing people, and incredible jokes. I have been watching for years now and I think I have watched every single episode (some more than four times) and every time I can’t stop laughing and thinking “God, what am I doing with my life?”. It is FANTASTIC!!!!!!

I cried genuine tears during this weeks episode. Won’t say why, but I did.

I’m right
4 stars, would be 5 if Harper read World’s Finest

Reminds me…
…of the days when I first started reading, collecting, and talking comics with my friends. My only request is more Harper and more Trivia. Confirmed Epic!

The Greatest Podcast
Been listening for months over the pandemic, and it’s been amazing. There are crazy moments, fun conversations, and great comic book hunting tips. After JD and Hunter mentioned checking Facebook Marketplace for comics, I did it every day and it led to a bunch of great free trades. The hosts are all inviting and will have a conversation with you if you reach out.

My entertainment of the week.
I’ve always been into superheroes, but these guys got me more into comics by showing their love of them through the podcast. I honestly thought comics stopped coming out in the early 2000’s, but then as I listened I realized I had to get on these current books and even past books that the hosts talk about. They are the reason I buy comic books today. Even with their own opinions, it’s great for everyone keeping up with big heroes and what’s going on in the world of superheroes. JD, Hunter, Harper, and Tyler are so much fun to listen to and there’s even times when, in JD’s words, “they have me smiling ear to ear”.

A changed man
Been listening to the show since episode 17 because I used to be into comics and fell off. This podcast helped me get back into them and expand my collection. I listen to each episode twice, once at work and second I watch on YouTube with homework to get the full experience. Thanks to hunter and a newly opened Tim Hortons in my neighborhood I no longer visit Dunkin. Love the show and all the host and guest.

My favorite podcast
I have been listening to the podcast since day one, it has helped me out on my darkest days and learned a lot about comics and I’m still learning to this day. Love learning new things about the flash and JD’s love for the character and mythos, Hunter’s passion for comics, Harper’s love for Iron Man, Daredevil, and Flash and his love for comics and Tyler’s knowledge and love for comics. But what each and everyone of you have in common is your love and passion for comics. Never change and thank you for changing mine and everyone else’s lives. I know everyone hates me now and I deserve it back then I was naive and stubborn and since then I’ve been trying to change and make amends and I will continue to do so. I hope you can forgive one day and start over Yours Truly Jerry (thecomicbookreader)

Every Second Is A Gift...And Absolute Madness
This title is entirely meant to pander to JD, but it’s true. I started listening to A Hero Story about one year ago. I had been going crazy during lockdown, and wanted to find a quality comic book podcast that could keep me updated each week. I had tried other comic podcasts, but they weren’t for me. They often went off the rails and were too wild and rambunctious for me to enjoy. This show was started by Instagram’s @historyoftheflash (JD) and @comicbookhunter (Hunter), and provided a calm and relaxing atmosphere to enjoy. They discussed their thoughts on each week’s new releases, their theories for future films and stories based on news that had come out, and more. They even interviewed some comic book creators, providing an informative and entertaining conversation for listeners to enjoy. Hunter and JD are the perfect hosts, who show their love of the subject matter and stay on topic. They are very knowledgeable, and even at one point, they discussed the origins of characters’ creations such as Batman and Captain America. It was exactly the kind of show I had been looking for. Then, everything changed when an Australian atom bomb named Harper (@comicrebirth) and a Marvel expert named Tyler (@comicboii) joined the podcast. Since then, the common consensus you will hear to describe this podcast is “chaos,” pure, uncontrollable chaos. Now, the show has become the very thing I wasn’t looking for in a comic podcast, and yet, it is amazing and hilarious to listen to, something I get excited for every week. The show has a simple sequence: -Live Action (or Adaptation) News -Comic Book News -Comics of the Week Discussion However, this sequence is now often interrupted with the wildest conversations such as how Hunter nearly burnt his house down, each member roasting each other constantly (insert Italian chef noises), Harper’s shenanigans, and more recurring bits, such as how @comicsavior loves Brian Michael Bendis’ run on Young Justice. They actually had so many crazy hijinks, they had to create a whole side show for them, called “Timmies Talk,” on YouTube, which is a great time as well. I often wonder if JD and Hunter knew what they were getting themselves into when they added Harper as a full time co-host. They wound up not only adding him, but a string of character voices that are now ingrained in the show’s continuity. These characters include Stan Lee (also the Devil, apparently), Mark Ruffalo (if he sounded like a Jersey enforcer of some kind), Jason Statham (whose dad is a bulldog), and so many more. Tyler is also a great recurring member, who often has some of the best insights to the show. However, having Harper and Tyler on the same show is like that volatile mix of chemicals that your science teacher warned you against making, but you did anyway, and now you have no idea what will happen next, but you know it will be explosive at the least. Thus, Harper and Tyler’s craziness often spreads to JD and Hunter, who then join in on the madness. So, if you want a show that will not only keep you up-to-date on comics, but also have you laughing for two hours straight, then this is the show for you! Be sure to check out their YouTube channel, which has great side shows such as “Timmies Talk,” Star Wars discussions, and a monthly book club conversation. Also, check out “The Price A Hero Pays” on ComiXology, as it is a beautiful story worth reading! And to the hosts of the show, I have the following quote for you: “You guys are the real heroes!” -Homelander (read “The Boys” already! I’m waiting!) Thank you! -Sean (NOT Shawn), @antiheroanalysis

Great Podcast
My friends watch comic movies, but none of them actually read comics. A Hero Story allows me to listen to fun comic book conversations that help me to connect with this storytelling medium that I love so much. I highly recommend this podcast.

Grand old time
I love listening to this show every Friday on my walks or when I go climbing. It’s been an amazing way to feel as if I’m in a conversation with other like minded people when I really don’t have that in real life. One of the funniest things I’ve listened too and has me laughing to myself on the streets like a mad man and falling off the rocks constantly! A highlight of my week and something I always looks forward! Thank you guys for all the laughs and updates on comics!!!

This show is the absolute best
Hi my name is Anderson. I started listening to this show in April of 2020 while cleaning my room. Once I listened to their episode talking about Dc’s 5G I was hooked and am now a religious listener. I listen to it all the time. Once Harper was added as a main host the show, it went from a 4 out of 5 to a 5 out of 5. If Tyler would join full time it would be a 6 out of 5. This show has meant so much to me over the past year, and has gotten me through some tuff times. All 4 of the guys in it are just the best. Some may get annoyed with how Hunter can never pronounce a name correctly but I think that is one of the best parts cause I can connect to that, and since he is Canadian he always makes sure to apologize a dozen times (plus he has awesome style see his Timmies talk shirt). JD seems to be growing more and more disinterested in modern comics and his hate for movie theaters is what makes him “bigger then Elvis” in my eyes, even though it is concerning that he only wears white tank tops. Tyler (when he is on) is just so *fascinating* to listen to when he talks about the stuff he is so passionate about, and he has the most random references that I love. Now last but not least Harper, he is what every group of friends needs, he is pure chaos, but in the best possible way he clearly loves talking about all of this and says how he feels flat out with no sugar coating it and I love it. Now putting all of this together makes something truly special. The 3 (or 4) of them clearly have so much love for each other and the comics they talk about. Their passion is so contagious that it convinced to buy comics weekly which is something I never planned on doing, (I used to just read trades) but now I do read weekly because I like being in the loop when they make it to the comics of the week. When I’m listening to that part of the podcast I will actually name my pick and cover of the week and participate in the conversation like I’m actually there (I know I sound crazy but this show will do that to you). It is truly something so special that I can honestly say is the highlight of my week. If you are a comic fan in any way listen to this show, yes it may be difficult at first to get used to the constant side stories and impressions of celebrities when you listen to hear about comics but that’s what makes this show so special. That’s all I have to say about this amazing podcast please go listen to this. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for “A Hero Story” in the future!!!!

Great Podcast
Hey guys i’m a huge fan of the podcast! you guys always deliver great criticism of the current stage of comics and your insight is always a ton of fun to listen to. i was wondering, are you okay with characters acting out of character for the sake of a story? there are good and bad examples of it being done but as a story telling tool what are your thoughts?

Top Notch Comic Book Podcast!
I’d just like to say that this has become one of my favorite podcast to listen to. I really enjoy that JD, Hunter and I share the love of the same characters and read the same books. I also like when they talk about great stories from the past so I can go pick up those trades. I’d really like them to do an episode on a $20 weekly pull list for a month. Thanks for doing the show guys!

My Personal Favorite Podcast
Wow I picked this up on a whim from Instagram and haven’t stopped since. I look forward to the episodes each and every week with major anticipation. I love that they cover more DC comics as that is personally my favorite comic publishers. It’s really awesome to get more opinions from other people especially when I have no friends who read comics. Thank you guys for being really really awesome!

Keeps me Updated
It’s awesome to have a podcast where I can stay updated on the generally important knowledge about comics. I can’t afford to get lots of comics (I got flash forward) but I can’t get them extremely consistently Bc I’m a kid, but this keeps me informed about comics. Thank you guys and keep up the good work!!!
