For his message today, Philip Snell was inspired by the book Deacons: How They Serve and Strengthen the Church by Matt Smethurst. In Messianic Judaism, instead of deacon, we usually say shamash (servant or servant-leader).  Philip talks about how shamashim are chosen, what is expected of them, and also some examples of what happened when the need for shamashim first occurred in the early days of the Church.
