After a two-week hiatus, Party Favorz is back with our annual Summer Heat edition for 2024! The creation of this mix was akin to pulling teeth. I've mentioned in previous episodes that the dance music scene is going through some challenges this year, and there just hasn't been a lot of standout material. I'll save all the gritty details for our end-of-year round-up.



What I will say is that despite being distracted by other issues (as I mentioned in yesterday's post), I had more than enough songs to create this set. The problem was that two-thirds of the tracks just weren't hitting the mark. There's so much mediocre to outright garbage music out there at any given time, making it difficult to be satisfied with the final result.



I would finish the mix, only to start eliminating and replacing songs over the course of three weeks. It wasn't until last week that a flood of really good tracks dropped, allowing me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Then, yesterday, Pink Panda released a rework of the Martha Wash house classic "Catch the Light," transforming it into a supersonic, hyperactive powerhouse that just clicked. This track enabled me to rearrange some songs for a better overall flow of the set.
