Dr. Roman Yampolskiy is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Louisville, where he has spent over a decade researching AI safety, superintelligent systems, and artificial general intelligence. He is widely credited with coining the term "AI safety" in a 2011 academic publication and is listed among the top 2% of most-cited researchers in the world. He is the author of AI: Unexplainable, Unpredictable, Uncontrollable (2024), a book that lays out his case for why advanced AI systems cannot, by definition, be brought under lasting human control.
