In this episode Trinity and Shannon highlight the story of Amy Kimball, a mother who lost her son to suicide due to an undiagnosed autoimmune disease & a medication that distorting his thinking, leading him hopelessness.
Amy Kimball is a wife of 28 years. She and her husband Jimmy have five sons. Tragically, their oldest son, Jimmy, died by suicide at 24 years old, on Friday, November 10, 2017 & is now with Jesus. Their other four sons are Matthew - age 23, Daniel - age 21, Michael - age 18 and Andrew - age 16. Never could I imagine losing my son at such a young age or in such a tragic way.
When Jimmy was 15 years old he contracted Lyme Disease, he was misdiagnosed for 9 months and treated with doxycycline for only 4 weeks. I even got a 2nd opinion for treatment at infectious disease at Children’s Hospital since 9 months had gone by and was reassured that was all he needed.
But the Lyme wasn’t really gone.
After being misdiagnoses for over nine years, we discovered that Jimmy did, in fact, have Lyme.
Before the death of her son, Amy had no idea of the risk of suicide with Chronic Lyme among other factors.
Since losing Jimmy, she hopes to glorify God, for Jimmy to continue to be used by the Lord through her, spread awareness and hope.
