Tumbleton has declared for Rhaenyra, but Ormund understands that its loyalty makes the town more useful than any fortress. Rhaenyra cannot destroy his forces with dragons without also burning thousands of her own supporters.Rhaenyra restores Grand Maester Orwyle to the Small Council and accepts his recommendation to redirect the Riverlands army toward Tumbleton. Hugh Hammer and Ulf White are sent ahead with Vermithor and Silverwing to watch the town and prevent Ormund from escaping before the ground forces arrive.Aegon and Larys return to Rook’s Rest, where they find Sunfyre lying motionless in the woods. Aegon insists that his dragon is still alive, removes a golden scale, and reluctantly leaves him behind. Aegon then begins living under a false identity among the smallfolk, where his royal commands mean nothing and he is forced to perform degrading work to survive.Caraxes leads Daemon to Rhaena and Sheepstealer. Daemon offers to protect his daughter and help her return, but Rhaena chooses exile and asks him to keep her secret. Daemon later presents Rhaenyra with the charred head of an innocent stranger and claims that the dead man was Sheepstealer’s rider.At Tumbleton, one of Ormund’s soldiers assaults Kat. Ormund initially punishes the soldier, creating the appearance that he believes in fairness. He then arrests Kat’s brother for striking a Hightower soldier while defending his family and forces Daeron to execute him. Tessarion burns and consumes the body as Ormund tells Daeron, “And now we begin.”The episode also reveals that Helaena is pregnant, potentially creating another Green heir and another dangerous source of conflict between Alicent and Rhaenyra.Why Is House Of The Dragon Episode 4 Called “Tumbleton”?Tumbleton becomes the center of the next phase of the war. Ormund controls the town, Daeron and Tessarion are stationed there, the Riverlands army is moving toward it, and Hugh and Ulf have been ordered to watch it from the sky.The town itself has weak defenses and little obvious military value. Its civilian population is what makes it strategically important. Ormund has placed his soldiers inside the homes of people who support Rhaenyra, effectively turning those people into protection against dragonfire.Rhaenyra can destroy Ormund’s army, but doing so could kill her own supporters and give her enemies the proof they need to portray her as another Maegor the Cruel.
