The Pittsburgh Pirates opened their series against the Boston Red Sox with an 8-4 win and have now put together back-to-back strong performances. Rafael Flores stayed scorching hot with another home run, Brandon Lowe delivered a huge three-run shot against a lefty and Esmerlyn Valdez continued to show signs of coming out of his slump. Bubba Chandler also turned in a solid five-inning start before the revamped Pirates bullpen took it from there.
