In 1989, Allan Legere was serving a life sentence for the murder of an elderly shopkeeper in a rural part of New Brunswick, Canada. Until he escaped. For seven months, he evaded capture, living in the woods around the Miramichi river, only coming out at night to steal food, rob houses, and murder the community’s most vulnerable citizens. He spent his entire life in and out of juvenile homes and eventually prison, but his final crimes against his fiance would be beyond any act of violence he had committed before.

On September 20, 1990, after her usual night shift at the local grocery store, Veronica Blumhorst clocked out at 1:07am.  She walked out to her car with her coworkers, they said goodnight and Veronica headed home. She assumed Veronica was in bed and went back to sleep. When her brother woke up that morning, he looked for Veronica because she was going to drive him to school. He was confused because her car was there but he could not find his sister anywhere. She was last seen by her coworkers at the grocery store and in the almost 30 years that have passed, Veronica has never been seen again.
