Podcaster FAQ
How does Podbay work compared to other podcast apps?
Podbay is a podcast app designed to work in web browsers, making podcasts more accessible in a clean simple interface to millions of people around the world. It functions exactly like any mobile app does for your podcast: your content is served unmodified from your RSS feeds and every listener streams each episode straight from your host.
How can I get stats from my Podbay listeners?
To view Podbay analytics, register for a free account with the email associated with your podcast(s), then confirm your email via the Settings page. Then use the Podcast Manager link in the sidebar (or your podcast page on mobile), to access the Analytics tab, which includes a 28-day history of your plays, page views, subscriber changes, and top referrers. Every listener on Podbay also counts towards any stats system that is set up with your host. Most hosts will report listeners from Podbay under 'Web' or specific browsers like Chrome or Safari since we use a standard HTML <audio /> tag for our player.
How can I customize my podcast on Podbay?
You can customize your page and links, message listeners, and more by registering for a free account with the email associated with your podcast(s), then confirming your email via the Settings page. Then use the Podcast Manager link in the sidebar (or your podcast page on mobile), to access the Customize tab.
How can I list my podcast on Podbay?
Podbay uses the Apple Podcasts catalog like many other players, including Overcast and Pocket Casts. If your podcast is on Apple Podcasts, it'll automatically show up here once a user searches for it or it shows up in the Apple Podcasts charts. If your podcast isn't on Apple Podcasts, just submit your podcast to Apple Podcasts and it'll start appearing in Podbay search shortly after it's accepted there.
How can I link my YouTube channel to my podcast?
To link your YouTube channel to Podbay and start automatically integrating your episode videos, register for a free account with the email associated with your podcast(s), then confirm your email via the Settings page. Then use the Podcast Manager link in the sidebar (or your podcast page on mobile), to access the Customize tab. Set your YouTube channel ID and click save. Your videos will start being linked within the following 6 hours.
How can I add a Support button on my podcast page?
Podbay looks for a standard <a rel="payment" /> tag in your RSS feed. If one's found, it'll automatically be added to your podcast page. You can read more about setting up rel="payment" on Podnews. You can also set a custom link from your Customize tab.
How can I report offensive or illegal content?
Every podcast available publicly on Podbay goes through the Apple Podcasts review process before it's added, helping us avoid manual moderation of content. If you find something that is prohibited and is also on Apple Podcasts, please report it there first and their changes will carry over to Podbay. If there's an urgent matter or we're showing a podcast that's not listed on Apple Podcasts, please use our Feedback option.
How can I link to Podbay from another player?
Podbay has a special URL that uses iTunes IDs to let other podcast apps easily form links for their users. Just use https://podbay.fm/itunesid/ITUNES_ID and replace ITUNES_ID dynamically for each podcast.
If you don't have an iTunes ID, you can also use https://podbay.fm/add?url=FEED_URL and replace FEED_URL with an RSS feed. If it's not a publicly listed podcast, it'll remain private to the user adding it from the link.
Either option will automatically get redirected to a human-friendly URL for the podcast.
