Ep. 172: Sherene Crawford is passionate about the issues of criminal justice and combating racial bias in the system.  A former Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan, Sherene now serves as the Project Director of the Center for Court Innovation's Midtown Community Court Project where she is responsible for overseeing  the court’s long-range planning and day-to-day operations. In this role, Sherene leads an interdisciplinary team of staff members who assess and link defendants with services, monitor compliance, oversee community restitution and early diversion projects, provide on-site social services and collaborate with government and community stakeholders to promote principles of procedural justice and community engagement. Prior to joining the Center for Court Innovation, Sherene worked for the National Network for Safe Communities at John Jay College of Criminal Justice as Deputy Director for the Institute for Innovation in Prosecution and as a Senior Policy Advisor.
